Golf Swing Tips!!
If you are interested in learning the game of golf and looking for golf swing tips to get you started then you should first understand a few basic elements of the swing. These four elements include the grip, swing, back swing, downswing, and following through.
The most critical thing in your golf swing is your grip. You must learn how to develop the right grip because it is the foundation of any golf swing. There are different types of grips you can use when you golf. These different grips include the interlocking, overlapping, and baseball.
When you use an interlocking grip, you will use the index finger of your left hand and the little finger of your right hand. People who have shorter hands or thick hands favor this type of grip when holding the golf club. The overlapping grip is similar to the interlocking grip but the little finger of the right hand will sit on top of the index finger and not interlock with it. Most golfers use this type of grip. The baseball grip is the best grip for beginner golfers. With this grip the index finger of your left hand will make contact with the little finger of your right hand but not overlap.
Getting the backswing right is important. It should be slow and deliberate and you should never rush. You should remember that the power of your swing is generated from the downswing. The left arm should remain as straight as you can keep it and it should go as far back as comfortable. Too far back is when it is no longer in your comfort zone.
The downswing is when you bring the club forward from the backswing. Your head should remain in the same position. You should begin your downswing with your hips. Your head should remain behind the ball until you follow through. You will not use your right hand to generate power but from the leverage in the angle between the club and wrists. Maximum power can be generated when you hold the angle between the clubs and wrists. You should never rush your downswing or it will result in a poor and inconsistent shot. You should gradually increase the speed on your downswing and be sure you have good balance. You should never try to muscle the club and swing really hard. It should be a smooth controlled movement.
After impact of the ball you want the club to release while your head remains behind the ball. As your right shoulder rises, your head should naturally follow. This means your chin should never be over your right shoulder. As you complete your follow through your shoulder and your head will be facing the target.
Your golf swing has four parts to it that come together. When you get these four elements right then you can have an excellent golf swing. It is a good idea to practice your golf swing over and over without hitting a ball. This will help you before you get started.
